The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has received a total of 713 proposals for promoting tourism in cost-sharing partnership. MoCTCA had called by the Ministry on August 17 that will have partnership among the local units, state level and federal level for sustainable development of the tourism industry in Nepal.
As per the estimation, the proposal to this project is over Rs 33 billion which the state and local units have pledged to chip in around Rs 12 billion. Among 713 proposals, 10 were submitted by State levels, 9 by the Metropolitan Cities, 10 by the Sub-Metropolitan Cities, 307 from municipalities and 377 by the rural municipalities.
As per the mentioned provision, the rural municipalities will bear 30 per cent of the total cost while 35 per cent will be borne by the municipalities. At the same time, Sub-metropolitan cites will take care of 40 per cent of the cost while Metropolitan Cities and States will bear 50 per cent each.
Kamal Prasad Bhattarai, Joint-Secretary of the Ministry said that the Ministry this year has forwarded the tourism promotion programs to be run in the modality of cost partnership to help boost the local tourism. Furthermore, the Ministry had identified 100 new destinations across the country to encourage domestic tourism in the nation.
