The Ministry for Cultural, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has been initiating for recovery of tourism that has been paralyzed due to Coronavirus pandemic. In order to make Kathmandu valley the world best cultural city including 14 surrounding municipalities; Cultural, Tourism and Civic Aviation minister, Yogesh Bhattarai and Chinese Ambassador for Nepal, Hou Yanqi are working together.
The largest city of Nepal situated in the central development region; Kathmandu is one of the best places for cultural heritage not only for Nation but it has been already recognized by UNESCO. Not only any particular monument but entire Kathmandu valley has been listed in the world heritage by UNESCO as it is the seven groups of monuments and buildings which display the full range of historic and artistic achievements for which the Kathmandu Valley is world-famous. It is located in the hilly region that provides a temperate climate with mountain views.
The seven groups of monuments e.g. the Durbar Squares of Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu), Patan and Bhaktapur, the Buddhist Stupas of Swayambhu and Bauddhanath and the Hindu temples of Pashupati and Changu Narayan are attracting many tourists each year. By understanding these potentialities, the minister has been launching various campaigns, events, program to promote, develop, and recovery of the tourism industry in Nepal. For this, MoCTCA is working with local, provincial, the federal government along with other concern authorities like the Chinese Embassy in Nepal.
For its foundation, Himalayan tourism news network has been working for research, discovery and find the problems cum potentialities of local tourism of this area. As the earlier form of this network, the ‘NEPAL PARIDHI’ newspaper base on Nepali tourism had already recorded some of the important facts of those 14 municipalities. It was the time before 3 years where we had provided a platform to mayors of Kathmandu surrounded municipalities to share future plans on tourism development. During the conversation, entire mayors had expressed desires to develop local areas as natural, cultural cum religious tourism hub by developing its infrastructures like road, drinking water, irrigation, construction of religious and natural parks in the areas. The beauty of those municipalities that are surrounded Kathmandu is not explainable in the words. They will obviously thrill to every visitor.
For mutual benefit, they have to work in the joint venture while making trekking route, cycle lane, homestay, research centre, yoga hub, hotels and restaurants. Their many other things can be done in a joint venture for tourism industries so that the local area can economically be benefited. If the local government will be able to preserve and enhance, diverse cultures base of local cast, religion and community it is sure that it will help Kathmandu to remain word’s best cultural city where more than 5 Lakh tourists per day can visit just to watch different species of birds which are found in the area. Although there are more potentialities there must of good planning, budgeting, and monitoring for infrastructural development. For this, the will-power of Tourism Ministry and initiation of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) is not sufficient where entire mayors, people representatives of those municipalities, concern parties, experts along with locals must work together for its development where China also must work seriously as there it is one of the best neighbour countries for Nepal. China is always helping Nepal for various developmental projects where it will obviously make a great contribution to develop Kathmandu a world best cultural city in the soonest future.
